Scuba Diving in Watamu
The establishment of Kenya's first Marine Reserve in Watamu/Malindi in 1968 has helped in the preservation of this rich habitat and it is no surprise that it is a sought-after destination for the scuba diving enthusiast.
The dive sites in Watamu are within the Marine Reserve and all have been buoyed for years to prevent anchor damage on the reefs. Watamu is blessed with some of the finest diving and reef formations on the Kenya coast.
We have approximately 15 different dive sites and have a policy here of only one boat per dive site - so no overcrowding! Diving is seasonal and all the bases are closed in May and June.
There are three dive centres in Watamu. Courses are available to PADI, BSAC, SSI and VDST certification. All offer diving both within and outside the reef, depending on sea conditions.
